Cabinet Shelving  

Some of us are lucky enough to have a cabinet in our homes, which means we have some idea of cabinet shelving and what we expect from it. If you’re anything like me, you might have a problem with worn shelving or the fact that there are just too few. This means that there is not enough space for everything we would like inside. Not to mention the fact that those shelves could break or fall at any time unless re-enforced.

This means that some cabinet owners will have to consider either re-shelving or adding additional shelves to their cabinets. There have been some great advances in this area in terms of easy shelves and different products that can be put inside a cabinet to increase space. This means that you won’t necessarily need to increase the number of shelves that you already have but can rather look at utilizing that space.

It doesn’t matter what kind of cabinet you have. They make shelves in all sorts of materials that fit both in an office space and in the home. Also if you have kitchen cabinets, those need additional shelves more often than not. Kitchen cabinets often come with pot and pan organizers and slide in shelves. These are quite useful in the creation of space for your things. These sliding shelves can be used in cabinets as well. You may also find that you want to get creative and start adding your own woodwork projects. Perhaps you could create a compartment?

If you are willing to, you can create your own shelves for your cabinet. Measure the space between the two sides exactly and the space between the front and the back of the cabinet. You can ask someone at the hardware store to assist you with your project. Then you can purchase a shelf clip to connect it to the cabinet itself and make it easy to remove if need be. Remember that it is important for your wood to be as close as possible to the original product. It should match in color and in grain.

You will find that cabinet shelving is going to save you so much time digging through mess and getting into an altercation with a pile of books or ornaments. Think about adding on or having cabinets re-shelved. Custom stores will do this for you at a price but they take great care to ensure that your heirlooms and precious pieces are well taken care of and that wooden items especially are not damaged or scratched. There is always the nightmare of having these cabinets transported but reputable repairers will return your goods to you as they are sent so there is at least that piece of mind.
